Steps 1–3: Install the WP Hotel Booking Plugin
Standard WordPress plugin installation — if you’ve installed any plugin before, this is identical. If this is your first plugin, follow each step exactly.
Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin

Step 4: First-Run Settings After Installing the Hotel Booking Plugin
After activation, go to Hotel Booking → Settings. Configure these in order — they affect how the entire plugin operates, so get them right before you start adding rooms or building pages.

- Choose your AI provider — Google Gemini (free API key) or OpenAI
- Enter your API key
- Add your property description, rules, and amenities — the AI uses this to answer guest questions
- Test the Concierge on the frontend after setup
⚠️ Set your currency before adding rooms. The currency you configure here is the currency that appears on your booking form and in guest confirmation emails, it should also match your payment processor settings (Stripe/Paypal). Changing it after you’ve taken bookings creates confusion. Set it correctly at the start — before creating any room types or prices.
Step 5: Create Your First Room Type and Room
The plugin uses a two-tier room structure — Room Types (the template) and individual Rooms (the physical units). You need at least one of each for bookings to work. This takes 5–10 minutes for the first room type. Full detail on room configuration is in the Room Types Setup Guide — here’s the short version to get you going.
Create a Room Type first
- Go to Hotel Booking → Room Types → Add New
- Enter a title — for example Sea View Double or Studio Apartment
- Add a description — this is your room’s sales copy, write it for guests
- In the Pricing & Capacity section, enter your Nightly Base Rate, Adult Capacity, and any other capacity limits
- Tick the relevant amenities — WiFi, Air Conditioning, Pool Access, etc.
- Add a featured image (the main room photo)
- Click Publish
Then create an individual Room
- Go to Hotel Booking → Rooms → Add New
- Enter the room name — for example Room 101 or Beach Bungalow
- Select the Room Type you just created from the dropdown
- Click Publish
That’s it. The room is now in the availability pool and can be booked. Repeat for every physical room at your property, assigning each to its Room Type.
Step 6: Add the Booking Blocks to Your WordPress Site
Modern Hotel Booking uses native WordPress Gutenberg blocks — there are no shortcodes to remember or PHP snippets to paste. Open any page in the block editor, click the + inserter, and search for Hotel Booking. All 8 blocks appear in the results.
