Why a WordPress Hotel Payment Plugin Doesn’t Need WooCommerce
I’ve been building and maintaining WordPress sites since 2006 — server setup, plugin architecture, production deployments, the lot. When I needed to accept payments for room reservations on my own vacation rental, beachhouse.ro, WooCommerce was the first option I looked at. And the first one I ruled out.
The problem isn’t that WooCommerce is bad software. It isn’t. The problem is that it’s built around physical products — carts, shipping zones, tax tables, inventory. Bolting hotel booking payments onto that architecture means configuring a product that isn’t a product, setting up shipping for something that doesn’t ship, and keeping WooCommerce’s update cycle in sync with your booking plugin’s update cycle. That’s two separate systems where you only need one, and two possible sources of conflict on every update.

Your IBAN, account name, and payment reference go into the booking confirmation screen and the email the guest receives. Revolut Payment Link & QR Code
This is a Revolut hotel payment option I haven’t seen in any other WordPress booking plugin. The free version includes a dedicated Revolut Details Gutenberg block. Drop in your RevTag or Revolut payment link and it appears in the booking confirmation page and email, with a QR code option for printed confirmations or in-person check-in. Guest opens their Revolut app, taps, done. A personal Revolut account is enough — no Revolut Business account required.

Pay on Arrival / Cash on Site
Some guests just want to pay when they arrive. Some property owners — particularly those running small guesthouses or family B&Bs — prefer to handle money face-to-face. Enable pay-on-arrival and the guest receives a full booking confirmation by email with no online payment required. You sort the money out at check-in, however works for your property. No gateway, no processing fee, no friction.

💡 These aren’t mutually exclusive. Enable bank transfer, Revolut, and pay-on-arrival simultaneously — guests see all active options at checkout and choose whichever suits them. The deposit configuration applies across all methods too: you could offer a first night deposit via bank transfer, or the full amount via Revolut, or nothing upfront and cash on arrival, all at the same time. The guest picks. You get paid the way they’re comfortable with, which is usually the way that results in a confirmed booking rather than an abandoned one.

The difference between the free payment options and the Pro ones comes down to timing and automation. Bank transfer and Revolut are manual — the guest gets your payment details and sends the money separately, which you confirm. Stripe and PayPal are automatic — the card is charged or PayPal authenticated right inside the booking form, and the booking confirms immediately. Everything else works the same way: same deposit flexibility, same pay-on-arrival option if you want it, same zero commission from the plugin. Card payment just means the money moves faster and requires no follow-up on your end.

Commission Free Hotel Booking — What You Actually Save
The plugin takes 0% commission on every booking. That’s not a pricing tier or a promotional period — it’s just how it works. You pay only whatever Stripe or PayPal charges you directly. Use bank transfer or Revolut and even the gateway fee disappears. The full amount the guest pays is the amount you receive.

Is the Stripe integration PSD2 and SCA compliant for European guests?
Yes. The Stripe hotel booking integration supports Strong Customer Authentication and 3D Secure — required for card transactions within the European Economic Area under PSD2. European card payments work correctly without any additional configuration on your end.
